Routine Extractions
Through an oral examination and x-rays of the mouth region, Dr. Del Valle and Dr. Shahgoli asses the position of the teeth and anticipate current/future problems. Early identification of necessary tooth extractions result in a superior outcome for the patient. During the tooth extraction procedure, the tooth is removed from the gum. Typically, the need for an extraction is to remove decayed, fractured, or broken teeth. Routine extractions are also performed in cases where a tooth cannot erupt fully, where a tooth causes dental crowding, or the where there is risk of an infection in the mouth. Commonly, the tooth removal is performed when the patient is under local anesthesia, IV sedation or general anesthesia. At your appointment, the several options and potential for surgical risk, will be discussed prior to the procedure. Following the teeth extraction, the gum is sutured. To help control bleeding, gauze is placed in your mouth. Dr. Del Valle & Dr. Shahgoli provide treatments in an environment that places safety first, uses modern equipment, and where staff are experienced in anesthesia techniques.
